
Last Friday, a severe accident occurred on the I-35 toll road involving a large number of motorcycles, leading to a Mass Casualty Incident declaration by the Fort Worth Fire Department. The chaotic scene unfolded just before 8:45 PM and prompted an immediate response from emergency services.
According to a social media post from the Fort Worth Fire Department, callers reported multiple motorcycles on fire and several individuals injured along the southbound lane of I-35. Firefighters, alongside MedStar Mobile Healthcare and the Fort Worth Police Department, found the scene strewn with burning motorcycles and victims ranging from walking wounded to critically injured.
The fire department's post detailed their immediate actions, which included extinguishing the fires and triaging the patients to assess who required urgent life-saving care. In total, there were 17 patients, of whom 14 required transportation to local hospitals and three were treated on scene.
The road remained closed for several hours, with 11 different fire apparatuses and 10 ambulances attending the scene. During this period, the Police Department conducted its investigation, while emergency services personnel worked diligently to manage the situation.
