
Atlanta's Mayor Andre Dickens, along with city officials and community leaders, will inaugurate the new Visitor's Center at Oakland Cemetery today at 11:30 a.m. The event marks the completion of two decades of planning and collaboration.
As per the City of Atlanta, attendees will include Parks and Recreation Commissioner Justin Cutler, Invest Atlanta CEO Dr. Eloisa Klementich, Historic Oakland Foundation CEO Dr. Richard Harker, and others.
The new Visitor's Center, located at 374 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE, features a 0.75-acre park, fifty new trees, modern facilities, event and classroom spaces, and rentable meeting rooms. The center aims to enhance the experience for both locals and tourists visiting the historic 48-acre cemetery. The ceremony highlights the city’s commitment to preserving and sharing Atlanta's history. Media covering the event are asked to RSVP and arrive by 11:00 a.m.
