Mayor Eric L. Johnson's second day at the International Air Transport Association World Cargo Symposium in Dubai was all about solidifying Dallas's position as a global logistics hub. Joining forces with leaders from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and dnata, one of the world's largest air services providers, Johnson set out to explore how this partnership could bolster the local economy by creating jobs and fostering international trade. According to a readout provided by the Office of the Mayor, the Mayor was welcomed with open arms by dnata's and Emirates Group's executives for a strategic discussion.

During these talks, Mayor Johnson appeared eager to expand the existing relationship between Dallas and dnata, and by extension, Dubai. A strategic dialogue ensued with dignitaries, including His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline & Group. They tackled subjects like the growth of Dallas and its global influence, which, Johnson noted, are significant. "Dallas is a city that thinks big, acts boldly, and leads globally," Mayor Johnson said, highlighting his city's ambition in a statement obtained by the Office of the Mayor. The sense of camaraderie was palpable as both parties looked to enhance Dallas's status as a competitive international hub.

As the day progressed, discussions with key players from dnata and Emirates SkyCargo honed in on the pharmaceutical trade corridor linking Dallas, Dubai, and India. Jeffery Van Haeften, Senior Vice President of Cargo Commercial Worldwide, and Badr Abbas, Division Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, sat down with Johnson to hash out how to take full advantage of this sector's prospective economic windfall.

Later, McNair extended his network at the Emirates Group Headquarters with top executives such as Richard Jewsbury, Sami Aqil Abdulla, and Will Lofberg. They pondered the expansion of future growth opportunities at DFW Airport, a launching pad for seven weekly flights to Dubai, already ferrying more than 104,000 passengers, and over 2,400 U.S. tons of cargo yearly. These stats are emblematic of the perpetual motion in this segment of the economy, a realm of potential barely tapped. Mayor Johnson summarized the synergy of these partnerships, as reported by the Office of the Mayor, "The collaboration with Emirates and dnata underscores our city’s status as a rising international hub and strengthens our commitment to expanding trade, creating jobs, and building a more connected and competitive economy."
