A strange sight along Interstate 40 led to an arrest yesterday when a Memphis man, found running across the highway, was linked to a Nashville home burglary. WSMV reports that the man, confronted by a Mt. Juliet Police officer in the act of his sprint, gave multiple false names and had no form of identification on his person.

As it turned out, the suspect was also in possession of a phone belonging to another individual, leading to the discovery of a recent break-in. "This arrest likely stopped more crimes from occurring in our city," MJPD posted on social media, a statement which was echoed in an article from Mt. Juliet Police's social media. The home, residing along South New Hope Road in Nashville, appeared to have a smashed window suggesting forced entry.

The 24-year-old man's identity, which was initially obscured by his attempt to deceive authorities with fraudulent names, was later confirmed through jail booking procedures and fingerprinting. According to WKRN, these steps allowed law enforcement to also connect him with aggravated burglary charges stemming from the Nashville incident.

Having been taken into custody in Mt. Juliet, and with the charges levied against him, the suspect was booked into Wilson County Jail. The suspect, a Memphis native, now awaits the legal proceedings for the burglary charges in Nashville. "We're proud of our officers who stay alert, investigate suspicious activity, and take action to protect our community," was part of the accolade MJPD shared, lauding the attentiveness of their officers.
