
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking information following a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C. earlier this week. Officers from the Seventh District were dispatched to the 2900 block of Knox Place, Southeast, after receiving a report of gunfire on Tuesday evening.
According to a press release issued by the MPD, upon arrival at around 6:40 p.m., police found 22-year-old Dar’Juan McRoy unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite attempts by DC Fire and EMS to save his life, McRoy was pronounced dead at the scene. McRoy was a resident of Southeast, D.C., and his death has prompted an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
While details of the incident are still emerging, the MPD is asking for the public’s help. Investigators urge anyone with information to avoid taking action themselves and instead contact the police. The MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for McRoy’s death.
