
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young man in the Northwest part of the city. The incident, which occurred last Friday night, resulted in the death of 22-year-old Kalyl Young.
Fourth District officers were called to the scene on the 700 block of Otis Place, Northwest, at around 10:41 p.m., following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Young with a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS were promptly at hand and transported him to a local hospital in an attempt to save his life, the Metropolitan Police Department reported.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Young succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the following day. The Metropolitan Police Department has formally identified the victim and is appealing to the public for any information that can lead to an arrest.
Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge about this crime to come forward. The Metropolitan Police Department emphasizes that those with information should "take no action but call police" at (202) 727-9099 or send a tip via text to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A standing reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this or any other homicide case in the District of Columbia.
