
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that turned fatal for a northeast D.C. youth. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, on the evening of February 2, officers rushed to Florida Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire and there found a young male victim, later identified as 17-year-old Trey’zuan Charles, wounded by a bullet.
The incident turned tragic when the juvenile, initially taken to the hospital after being shot, fought for his life but passed away over a month later on March 17. The medical examiner confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot, ruling it a homicide. When Fifth District officers responded to the scene on Florida Avenue, they found the injured juvenile and immediately called DC Fire and EMS for urgent care, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
In their search for answers and justice, authorities are calling on public engagement. A reward of up to $25,000 is advertised for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or perpetrators, as specified in theofficial Metropolitan Police Department press release.
