
Michael Buchler is taking the reins as the new Capital Project Management Director for the City of Garland, a recent post on the city's official website has announced. Starting on Monday, Buchler is now in charge of ensuring that key capital projects in Garland are executed with efficiency and meticulously align with the organization's objectives. Buchler brings to the table a substantial 27 years of experience in managing commercial construction projects.
Garland's gain is Irving's loss, as Buchler is departing from a two-year tenure as the Assistant Director of the Capital Improvement Program for the City of Irving. There, credited with overseeing significant infrastructure undertakings and capital spending, Buchler honed his skills, applying his robust knowledge in project planning and cost control, together with risk management, and not to forget, team leadership. According to the City of Garland's announcement, his experience is expected to drive pivotal projects from their beginning stages through to their completion.
Buchler's influence stretches beyond the confines of city infrastructure. He partakes in educating future industry professionals as an Adjunct Professor of Construction Management at Collin College. In this role, Buchler shares his extensive industry knowledge and experience, shaping aspiring construction managers.
A Purdue University alum, Buchler boasts a bachelor's degree in Construction Management and an associate's degree in Civil Engineering. His approach, marked by technical acuity and a strategic mindset, has been key to bringing forth high-quality projects that not only enhance communities but also bolster their long-term growth. With his commitment to excellence well-documented, Buchler enjoys a domestic life filled with reading and traveling, and watching his two daughters succeed at Oklahoma State University.
