While the day promises a gentle ushering of calm winds turning southerly, residents can expect a more spirited breeze in the afternoon with speeds reaching 5 to 8 mph. According to National Weather Service's latest update, tonight's partly cloudy skies will be coupled with lows around 52°F and a more robust south wind around 10 mph, possibly gusting up to 21 mph.
Continuing through the weekend, St. Louisans are advised to shed their light jackets as tomorrow's temperature may soar near 79°F. However, the sunshine will be battling with south winds raging 14 to 18 mph, and residents should brace for gusts that could peak as high has 32 mph. The following nights also reflect a trend of mild and breezy conditions, with the National Weather Service noting lows hovering in the high 50s.
Looking ahead to the week, Monday's skies will be mostly cloudy, as temperatures take a slight dip to a high near 68° with northwest winds at 8 to 11 mph. The mercury is slated to drop further to a low around 47°F by night. A stretch of sunny skies and fair weather seems likely for Tuesday and most of Wednesday, with respective daytime highs of 63° and close to 70°.
But the reprieve might be short-lived. The National Weather Service cautions that from Wednesday night onwards, the probability of showers and thunderstorms escalates to 60%. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist into Thursday and Friday, offering partly sunny skies, but with continued chances of rain and thunderstorms. "Showers and thunderstorms likely," states the outlook for Thursday, alongside a generous high near 76°, while Friday also holds a 30 percent chance of storms with a high pushing near 77°.
For those with an eye on hazardous conditions, a Frost Advisory was in place through 8 AM for parts of southwest and south central Illinois. However, no additional severe weather alerts have been issued currently. Residents are encouraged to stay informed on local forecasts as the week progresses, particularly as storm chances arise. "There is a chance of thunderstorms for parts of the area Wednesday through Friday," outlined in the Hazardous Weather Outlook by the National Weather Service.
