Sophia Franklin, the 16-year-old missing and pregnant teenager from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, has been found safe. Gary Day, a 40-year-old man from Arkansas, is in custody after a tip led to their discovery near Omaha, Nebraska. The Amber Alert for Franklin has been canceled. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to reunite with her family after a stay at a secure facility, according to WISN.
A couple at a truck stop alerted authorities after seeing Franklin with two men, one of whom was identified as Day. After speaking with Franklin and recognizing Day, they contacted 911, prompting a law enforcement response, as reported by FOX6 Now.
Franklin, who had been missing for two months, was safely located following the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Beaver Dam Police Department, with support from community members and tips from various states. Sophia Franklin's parents spent her 17th birthday waiting for updates. Leah Franklin stated, "It's just, it's just living your life every day still uncertain as to what tomorrow is going to hold and whether or not you can move forward in certain aspects of your life or if you should just stay here and wait," as stated by WBAY.
