A 16-year-old girl reported missing was found safe on Friday during a standoff at the Mustang Inn, located at 3800 Tidwell Road in north Houston. The Harris County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check and discovered the girl with a 20-year-old man wanted for aggravated assault and drug possession. The man barricaded himself in the room, prompting a SWAT team response that utilized a robot, drone, and tear gas. The standoff concluded around 4 p.m. when the man was located in the attic and taken into custody, according to Click2Houston.
The suspect’s identity has not been released as the investigation continues. After being exposed to tear gas, he was seen vomiting and spitting, so he was placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital as a precaution. According to Harris County Assistant Chief John Nanny, the use of gas by the SWAT team led to the suspect’s arrest.
A deputy was taken to the hospital after being bitten on the lower leg by a K9 officer during the incident. The deputy is expected to recover, as per FOX26. Authorities have not shared more information about the suspect's condition or the details of his warrants.
