A routine traffic stop in downtown Modesto escalated into a DUI investigation, which culminated in the discovery and seizure of drugs prepped for sale, the Modesto Police Department shared on social media. A driver, initially pulled over for running a stop sign, now faces charges that extend beyond traffic violations. The individual was arrested on counts of driving under the influence and possession of drugs for sale, signaling the continued efforts of local law enforcement to combat substance-related offenses and impaired driving.
According to the Modesto Police Department's Facebook post, their Traffic Safety Unit made the arrest after a search brought to light narcotics ready for distribution. The post shared a stark warning with the public: "Choose Your Ride", juxtaposing the choice between driving lawfully or finding oneself in the back of a patrol car. A DUI and drug offenses are clearly not on the list of activities the police department recommends.
The Modesto Police Department emphasized the dangers of impaired driving and drug trafficking, urging the public to "Drive sober, follow the law, and leave drug deals off your to-do list." Their vigilance, with nightly patrols, aims to deter offenders and reinforce the consequences of such illegal activities. The department’s social media post, along with continued enforcement, highlights their commitment to fighting impaired driving and the drug trade, with the department stating, "We're out every night," to maintain order and safety on Modesto's streets.
