Drivers in Missouri should brace for a slower commute as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announces lane closures on MO-23 near Knob Noster, affecting the stretch between U.S. Highway 50 and Johnson County Route DD. Starting on Friday, the department will initiate upgrades, an effort that will run until July, promising to enhance the local infrastructure for the long run. The planned work is set to improve signals, resurface roads, and install a new right turn lane aimed at easing the flow of traffic.
According to a press release from MoDOT, the construction is set to begin bright and early at 6 a.m. this Friday. As crews set to work, motorists can expect a range of disruptions, including lane closures, flagging operations, and shoulder closures. This corridor, frequented by many, is likely to experience significant traffic changes, thereby requiring drivers to stay alert, slow down, and allow extra travel time during the affected months.
Residents and travelers have been forewarned of the potential impact on their daily travels. "Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones," the MoDOT said. Not all work zones will look the same, some being temporary measures to facilitate quick repairs or debris removal, but all are equally deserving of cautious driving practices to ensure worker and driver safety.
