Montgomery County officials have announced the 10th Annual Montco Trail Challenge, with registrations now open. The challenge runs from April 26 to December 1. Participants can explore the county's 100-mile trail network and earn awards for visiting five, 10, or 15 select trails, as reported by the Montgomery County.

The official kick-off event will take place on May 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Central Perkiomen Valley Park. The event will offer bike safety tips, free bike helmets for children, and healthy snacks. Residents and visitors can RSVP online. Neil K. Makhija, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, discussed the county’s trail network, which attracts millions of visitors annually, and noted the challenge as a free outdoor activity.

The Montco Trail Challenge last year had over 1,400 participants of all ages. Montgomery County's trail system offers benefits for mental and physical health, according to Jamila H. Winder, Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. The trails serve as a free, accessible resource for the community. This year, the Montco Trail Challenge is expected to be larger, continuing the county's focus on outdoor activity and community wellbeing.
