The Metropolitan Police Department is turning to local residents for help as they hunt for a suspect in a recent armed carjacking on Minnesota Avenue NE. In the early hours of Monday, March 10, an individual found themselves at gunpoint, forced out of their own vehicle by suspects looking to do more than just joyride.
According to a release from the MPD, it was around 12:25 a.m. when the victim, seated peacefully in their car on the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, found their quiet night shattered. One of the suspects flashed a handgun and demanded them to abandon their vehicle. The suspects took what they could from the victim before making their escape in the stolen car. Fortunately, the victim's vehicle was later recovered.
Investigators have been gathering evidence and are now asking for the public's assistance to put a name to the face of the suspects involved. Community members who might have witnessed the incident or possess any information that could lead to an arrest are encouraged to come forward.
