A bicyclist in Murfreesboro found themselves needing rescue this past Sunday after an unexpected detour led them down an embankment near the Stones River. The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department promptly responded to the incident, employing a rope rescue system to aid the distressed cyclist. WSMV reported that the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department found the individual near the river's edge and began administering care once they determined the injuries were non-life-threatening.

In a statement obtained by WGNS Radio, the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department team used a Stokes basket for the extrication process. It was noted that the rescue operation included several units within the department, such as Engine 9, Rescue 4, and Ladder 4, amongst others. The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department's Utility Terrain Vehicle (AT4) transported the bicyclist to an awaiting ambulance from the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS) for further care.

Following the rescue, the individual was taken to an area hospital for additional treatment. Although their specific condition has not been disclosed, the injuries have been described as non-life-threatening, as per WKRN. The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department did not release additional information regarding the incident or the identity of the bicyclist as of yet.
