A Nashville woman lost her life early this morning in a tragic car accident on Old Hickory Boulevard. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Roberta Osgood of Nashville.
The crash occurred in the 1300 block of Old Hickory Boulevard around 2 a.m. Osgood was behind the wheel of her 2017 Toyota Highlander, driving westbound when the vehicle left the roadway. The initial investigation revealed that the car struck a concrete mailbox before colliding with a tree. Osgood was promptly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center; however, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Investigative reports have found no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Osgood was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Speed and a failure to maintain the proper lane of travel appear to be the preliminary contributing factors to the crash, as per the officials' statements.
