A Nashville motorcyclist lost his life in a collision that occurred yesterday afternoon on Lebanon Pike, according to official reports. Tyler S. Davis, a 27-year-old Nashville resident, was identified as the victim of this tragic incident. The collision took place near Wellington Square when Davis, riding a Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle, crashed into a Nissan Frontier pickup truck that was pulling out of a gym at the address 3051 Lebanon Pike.
The Nashville Police Department reported that the fatal event unfolded at around 12:15 p.m. The 26-year-old driver of the Nissan was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes, in order to turn left and proceed westbound, when he entered the path of Davis's speeding motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck told investigators he "didn't see any vehicles approaching."
Speeding has been identified as the preliminary contributing factor in the fatal collision, with Davis believed to have been traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. So far, according to officials, no charges are anticipated in connection with the accident. This serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers excessive speed can pose to all road users and the split-second difference between a close call and tragedy.
