The Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is appointing new leaders to two precincts, with Chief John Drake overseeing the changes. Starting Thursday next week, Commander Steven Bowers will take charge of the North Precinct, replacing the late Commander Anthony McClain, who passed away last month. Bowers, a North Nashville native with 16 years of MNPD experience, previously led the West Precinct and the School Safety Division. Chief Drake expressed confidence in Bowers' commitment to the community.
According to the Nashville Government website, at the West Precinct, Jason Proctor will step in as Commander, also beginning Thursday next week. Proctor, a 24-year MNPD veteran, previously directed the Traffic Division and has experience managing police facilities and vehicles. Chief Drake highlighted Proctor's extensive service and qualifications for the role.
These leadership changes come at a time when strong community relations are crucial, and both Bowers and Proctor bring valuable experience to their new positions. Their leadership will focus on engagement with residents and businesses to address safety concerns and improve community well-being.
