Nashville's Register of Deeds office is forging ahead with its modernization, pressing pause on its current operations this week to put the finishing touches on phase II of its construction project, The office is scheduled to remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10. The interruption, necessary to wrap up the renovation, will usher in an array of updated amenities for the public, including improved access to archival materials and research tools like microfilm and databases. Register of Deeds Karen Johnson expressed enthusiasm for the impending completion: "We are excited about final completion of construction at our new office and look forward to providing a wide range of new and improved services to our customers," she conveyed in a statement obtained by Nashville.gov.

Despite the temporary shutdown, e-filing services will remain online, uninterrupted; clients seeking these digital services won't face a delay. Upon reopening on Friday, April 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the lower-level space is slated to be fully operational later in the month. It's not only about property records and archives, though; the renovated quarters will also house a Veterans ID booth, providing a secure alternative for veterans in need of identification services who wish to keep their DD214 documents private. "The Register of Deeds regrets any inconvenience caused by this necessary closing," Karen Johnson assured customers regarding the brief closure in the same statement.
