A Nevada City man has been taken into custody following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a child. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office reports that 65-year-old William Eugene Ferris was arrested on charges of oral copulation with a minor under the age of ten years.
On last Saturday, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call alleging that Ferris committed an offense at his residence on Lone Lobo Trail in Nevada City. The Sheriff's Office withheld details about the child’s relationship to Ferris to protect their identity. Law enforcement arrived promptly, and Ferris was arrested "without incident" and booked at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. Detectives also petitioned for a bail enhancement, increasing it to $500,000 to ensure the severity of the charges was acknowledged by the judicial system.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, the investigation into Ferris's conduct is still ongoing. Authorities are committed to ensuring justice while prioritizing the safety and privacy of the victim. "To protect the child involved in this case, their identity and affiliation to Ferris are being withheld," the Sheriff's Office stated.
