Residents and motorists in the New Orleans area should prepare for upcoming road closures starting Monday, April 21. The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works, in conjunction with RNGD Construction LLC, will temporarily close the 5700–6000 blocks of Cameron Boulevard to execute mill and overlay work. This operation is a segment of a more extensive roadway restoration initiative designed to enhance the infrastructure of the city.

The closure is scheduled to last for two days, with an expected reopening of the road on or around April 22. During this time, traffic will be detoured from Cameron Boulevard to Allen Toussaint Boulevard in an effort to minimize disruptions and maintain the flow of vehicles. Signage and traffic control measures, such as barricades, will be employed to assist drivers and pedestrians in navigating the alterations; however, individuals are advised to exercise caution, as changes in routine traffic patterns can be unexpected.

According to the city's official announcement, the temporary closure falls under the $34.1 million St. Anthony Group A (PMOPI) joint infrastructure project. This collaboration between the city's Department of Public Works and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans aims to notably improve drainage, repair streets, curbs, sidewalks, and incorporate new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.

The larger project is on track for completion in the fall of 2025 and promises to upgrade the quality of life for residents.
