
Oklahoma City residents should prepare for a soggy week ahead, as the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a consistent chance of showers and thunderstorms extending into the weekend and beyond. According to the latest update from the NWS, a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms is predicted mostly after 4 pm today with humidity levels reaching a high of 96 percent and temperatures expected to hit 75 degrees. Wind gusts could also accelerate up to 20 mph amidst the frequent rainfall.
As the week progresses, the chances of precipitation increases, tonight's forecast indicates a 60 percent likelihood of showers, potentially ushering in up to a quarter of an inch of rain, but higher amounts are possible where thunderstorms strike, heading into Friday morning, showers and a possible thunderstorm are anticipated before 1 pm followed by more possible showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon where the chance of rain stands strong at 70 percent. Despite the potential downpours, temperatures will continue to hover in the mid-70s.
The weekend doesn't offer much respite as the weather pattern persists with cloudy skies and expected rainfall, Saturday's conditions echo the previous days with a 70 percent chance of showers and possible thunderstorms, though temperatures may dip slightly to a high near 70. Moving into Sunday, the likelihood of rain slightly decreases during the day, but the chance of precipitation remains significant at 60 percent.
Into the next week, showers and thunderstorms remain a recurring theme for Oklahoma City, with Monday presenting a 20 percent chance of storms after 1 pm that increases to 60 percent by nightfall on Monday night, temperatures are set to peak at 81 degrees, capping what can only be described as an unsettled start to the week, Tuesday and Wednesday continue the trend with a 50 and 40 percent chance of rain, respectively, along with mostly cloudy skies and mild conditions.
