Oklahoma City residents seeking clarity on how to best utilize 911 services and learn about the new online system to report crimes will find their answers at an upcoming town hall. The Oklahoma City Police Department is hosting the event to educate the public on the nuts and bolts of emergency calling and the nuances of the newly implemented Online Police Report System. The informative session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on May 8, at the South OKC Chamber, located at 701 W I-240 Service Road, according to a bulletin published by Oklahoma City Police Department.
For those interested in attending, registration is available at nacok.org. The new system introduced by the Oklahoma City Police Department allows residents to file reports online for non-immediate crimes like embezzlement, harassment, and vandalism, among others.
"People have a lot of questions about 911, how the system works, and when they should call the number," OKCPD Captain Michelle Henderson said. Acknowledging this knowledge gap, the upcoming town hall is structured to not only impart procedural knowledge but perhaps more importantly, to foster a sense of community engagement in public safety, as reported by the Oklahoma City Police Department.
