An inmate already serving time in an Oklahoma prison for drug convictions has been handed down a new sentence for running a drug conspiracy behind bars. Shane Eugene Miller, 39, received a 252-month sentence for federal drug conspiracy charges, to be followed by five years of supervised release, as announced by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.
U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill determined the fate of a man described by authorities as someone who turned the prison system into his personal criminal headquarters. "Miller ran an extensive drug conspiracy from prison with the aid of contraband cell phones and other co-conspirators," Johnson stated, as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The investigation spearheaded by the FBI unearthed Miller's scheme of using contraband cellphones for orchestrating methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution. "This investigation demonstrates the FBI’s commitment to ensuring those who pollute our communities with dangerous drugs are brought to justice," FBI Oklahoma City Special Agent in Charge Doug Goodwater said, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to dismantle drug networks, regardless of their operational base, as per the Department of Justice.
Miller's sentencing is part of a broader case that has seen others punished for their role in the drug operation. Brenda Raelene Blakeley, 65, of Oklahoma City received 235 months imprisonment in March 2025 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, after police discovered methamphetamine in her vehicle during a 2023 stop. Meanwhile, Cierra Michelle Warner, 32, was sentenced for using a communication facility in the commission of a drug trafficking felony, which involved coordinating the distribution of fentanyl.
Another co-conspirator, Johnathan Allen Perryman, 43, has pled guilty to distribution of fentanyl and is awaiting his sentencing. Miller, currently under the jurisdiction of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, will be transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin serving his recent federal sentence, where it is hoped that he will no longer be able to perpetuate his criminal enterprise.
