Voter maintenance efforts are underway in Oklahoma, where the State Election Board has begun dispatching Address Confirmation Notices to certain registered voters, as part of a push to ensure the accuracy of its voter rolls. According to an official release, these notices are a statutory requirement aimed at verifying the current residences of the electorate.
Upon receipt, voters have a 60-day window to respond or risk being classified as "inactive," a status that carries the weight of potential removal from voter lists post-2028 General Election, although, those who find themselves tagged as such have until the said election to either vote or update their registration to revert this classification. State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax stressed the importance of prompt action, saying as per the Oklahoma State Election Board, “It takes just a couple of minutes to confirm or update your registration. The easiest way to respond is online through the OK Voter Portal. You can also fill out the card and mail it back to us – postage paid.”
The criteria for receiving an Address Confirmation Notice is specific, excluding the majority of voters; it's tailored to those who've had mail returned as "undeliverable," individuals whose records suggest dual registrations either within Oklahoma or across state lines, and also those who have not participated, nor updated their registration details throughout the past two electoral cycles—2022 and 2024, as mentioned on the Oklahoma State Election Board website.
