
An ATV accident over the weekend claimed the life of an Olive Branch police lieutenant. Lieutenant Ronnie Flanagan, a dedicated member of the Olive Branch Police Department since 2003, passed away from his injuries. The city shared the news, as reported by WREG, honoring Flanagan’s legacy of committed public service.
According to Action News 5, Lt. Flanagan joined the Olive Branch Police Department in 2003 and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2014. To honor his memory, Mayor Adams has ordered flags in the City of Olive Branch to be flown at half-staff on Thursday. This gesture serves as a tribute to Lt. Flanagan’s dedicated career and his service to the community he served.
Lt. Flanagan was known among colleagues and community members for his consistent dedication to his duties and for frequently exceeding the expectations of his role. Local Memphis highlighted the condolences offered by Mayor Ken Adams, Police Chief Bill Cox, the Board of Aldermen, and the city's teams directed to Lt. Flanagan's family during this difficult time.
Following Lt. Flanagan’s passing, city officials relayed the Mayor’s message of condolence, extending sympathies to his wife, Martha, and their son and daughter, both of whom serve as first responders for the city. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Olive Branch, followed by memorial services. Interment will take place at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.
