Early Wednesday morning, a shooting in East Austin resulted in one person suffering life-threatening injuries. The Austin Police Department (APD) reported that the incident occurred near East Cesar Chavez and San Marcos streets, around 12:30 a.m., where officers were called to the scene of the possible shooting, as detailed by KVUE.
Following their arrival, authorities, including APD and Austin-Travis County EMS, discovered an individual with a gunshot wound. This victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment, their condition and identity have not been disclosed as of the latest updates, CBS Austin notes.
The scene also saw a brief disturbance when a man entered the area and was commanded to stop, after which, he fled on foot. Although he was detained, APD has indicated that he does not appear to be connected to the shooting event, as communicated by KVUE.
