A shooting incident in Macclenny yesterday has left one person in critical condition. The victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was urgently transported to the nearest hospital following the altercation that unfolded around midday near the Baker County Health Department. The consequent police investigation prompted the shutdown of several streets including Lowder Road, Ninth Street, and Quail Lane, as reported by News4Jax.
Adding to the tapestry of unfolding events, the Baker County Sheriff's Office alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement located a fugitive during the investigation. This suspect, found close to the epicenter of the day's violence, was found in the area of Quail Lane and 9th Street, where the shooting took place, as recounted by Action News Jax. Undersheriff Randy Crews described the scene, informing that the deputies had responded to the locality following the report of the shootout.
As law enforcement delved deeper into the chaos, their search efforts culminated in the discovery and arrest of 25-year-old Tyrone Moring. According to Sheriff Scotty Rhoden in a statement obtained by First Coast News, Moring was apprehended hiding in a shed armed with multiple weapons. "We received a call of a shooting in progress over here in the area of Ninth Street and Grissom, and when we responded here, the officers responded and found a victim that was rushed to the hospital," Sheriff Rhoden explained.
The connection between the fugitive and the shooting has yet to be publicly clarified by officials, as the investigation remains ongoing.
