Yesterday morning, a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Loop 202 eastbound near Vee Quiva Way resulted in the death of one individual. Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials arrived at the scene of the accident at milepost 65 around 2:15 a.m., when they discovered the collision. The eastbound lanes, subsequently closed for investigation, have now been reopened to traffic, according to ABC15.
DPS detailed the sequence of events leading to the tragic outcome. A black passenger vehicle, which was driving on the right emergency shoulder, side-swiped a red passenger vehicle. Having lost control after the impact, the black vehicle then collided with the median barrier wall. The driver who struck the wall succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, as reported by 12News.
The incident is currently under investigation as DPS seeks to gather more details about what caused the crash.
