An Orange, Texas financial advisor, Bradley Morgan Holts, 54, is facing significant prison time after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges. Holts admitted to orchestrating a scheme in which he posed as a legitimate investment firm and redirected investors' money for his own personal expenses. He entered his guilty plea on Monday, according to the U.S. Attorney Office.
Details from the courtroom reveal that the former advisor, associated with names like Capital One Bank and World Capital Brokerage, went as far as opening a bank account under the guise of "Bradley Morgan Holts dba Invesco Investment Texas" (ITT). Through this account, Holts misled individuals eager to invest in Invesco, Ltd., which is in reality a renowned global investment company, diverting their investments for his personal gain. This information was drawn from the proceedings in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn, as stated in the press release.
The charge against Holts carries a weighty penalty of up to 20 years in federal prison. However, this duration is the maximum determined by congressional statute and serves merely as a reference. The actual sentence will hinge on a combination of advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors, and will be imposed by the court.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled following a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office, with the exact date yet to be determined.
