A recent video released by the Orlando Police Department shows a high-stakes shootout in an Orlando parking garage over a hefty cache of marijuana. The incident, which unfolded on February 2, resulted in six arrests, according to a report by WESH. Taking place on the fourth floor at 480 N Orange Ave, the suspects allegedly made off with 16 pounds of cannabis, sparking the violent confrontation.
The footage ostensibly shows multiple individuals engaging in gunfire between vehicles. A white Hyundai, implicated in the robbery, had one suspect discharging a handgun. Meanwhile, suspects in a blue Acura were also seen stealing boxes believed to be containing cannabis before unloading them into a black Tesla driven by Jennelle Vante, as described in a statement detailed by the WESH report. The suspects have been slapped with a range of charges, including attempted felony murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance.
Further investigation brought to light evidence of premeditated communication between the suspects regarding the execution and subsequent disposal of evidence from the botched heist. WFTV detailed the involvement of the white Hyundai Tucson and blue Acura in the incident, which took place around 2 a.m. on Feb. 4, noting that both sides exchanged gunfire.
A report from CBS12 adds that the Orlando Police have arrested three individuals from the Hyundai: Kelly Mala, Bahanni Haywood, and D’Jon Heyliger. Haywood was found in possession of a 9mm magazine and a black mask. His ammunition matched casings found at the scene. This unfolding case has opened the possibility for additional charges as the investigation grinds on, with police warning that their work is far from over and more arrests could be forthcoming.
All six suspects are currently facing serious charges with the Orlando Police Department, indicating their roles in the attempted armed robbery.
