Heads up for drivers in Colorado Springs: Parts of Marksheffel Road are set for an overnight closure. The road will be inaccessible from south of Stetson Hills Boulevard to north of Barnes Road, starting at 7 p.m. on April 30, and again on May 1 until 5:30 a.m. the following mornings. Additionally, the weekend of May 2-5 will see the same stretch of road closed, as reported by the City of Colorado Springs.
The reason for the closure is that crews are planning to install six drainage pipes, and the procedure involves deep excavation work across the road. Moreover, the crews will be restriping to implement a new traffic pattern. Commuters will need to seek alternative routes during these times, and a signed detour will direct traffic to use Peterson Road to navigate between Stetson Hills Boulevard and Barnes Road.
For locals needing access to Tamlin Road, which remains closed through June for complete reconstruction, there's an indicated detour. Traffic for Tamlin Road should now use Huber Road to reach businesses and the People's United Methodist Church, according to the City of Colorado Springs.
