A fatal collision on Belle Terre Boulevard in Flagler County claimed the life of a Palm Coast man earlier today, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The head-on accident involved a 19-year-old from Interlachen driving an SUV northbound, and a 65-year-old man heading south in a pickup truck.
Florida Highway Patrol reports, obtained by News4JAX, indicate the crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. when the SUV crossed the solid double-yellow lane line, and caused a direct impact with the pickup truck. The incident resulted in the immediate death of the older driver on the scene while the younger was seriously injured and required hospitalization.
Additional details from FHP further state that neither man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. This information was shared by Action News Jax, highlighting the ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the necessity of seatbelt use.
