Christopher James Turk, a 31-year-old Parkland resident, was arrested on charges of video voyeurism at a local coffee shop. According to NBC Miami, an anonymous tipster's note to the coffee shop's management led staff and authorities to discover Turk's cell phone hidden in a bathroom meant to secretly record patrons.

After the staff at Carmela Coffee Bar received the anonymous note, they were able to quickly identify Turk, who allegedly attempted to record restroom goers last Tuesday. "There is a man here in a gray T-shirt and glasses. On the back of the T-shirt the word 'maintenance' is written on it," the note read. "On 4/14 he was here. He put his phone in the toiletries drawer and records anyone using the restroom. You can see it on video. If you don't believe me, please send staff to check the first bin throughout his visit," the tipster warned in the message obtained by NBC Miami.

The Broward Sheriff's Office investigation revealed Turk sat outside the only unisex bathroom at the café and monitored the camera through his Apple Watch. Staff found the phone upon inspection, and Turk was arrested after he volunteered to stay and speak with the deputies. "Turk ordered a Red Bull then went into the bathroom and came out and sat in a chair just outside the bathroom," detailed the report provided by NBC Miami. An employee's quick action ensured the device was secured before Turk could retrieve it.

Further compounding Turk's alleged offenses, detectives have linked him to a similar incident in 2022, showcasing a concerning pattern of behavior. He has since confessed to the acts and admitted the phone had recordings of the restroom users stored in a hidden folder. "He also admitted to viewing the camera feed through his Apple Watch," according to evidence laid out by the Parkland Talk. While the full extent of the victims remains unknown, Turk's employment at the Embassy Suites could suggest a broader investigation might be underway.

Turk, who has been released on a $2,500 bond, has been instructed not to return to the coffee shop and is prohibited from possessing any electronic recording devices. The Broward County Main Jail was his holding area post-arrest, where he awaited further proceedings. The seizure of the phone and ongoing investigations are to help establish whether other locations have been involved in these privacy violations.
