Houston Police Department is currently investigating a fatal incident involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle last Saturday. Witnesses say at around 5:15 p.m., a male pedestrian stepped from the sidewalk and tried to cross the street at 2000 Wirt Road when he was hit by an oncoming green Ford F-150 pickup truck, as reported by the City of Houston.
The victim's name hasn't been released yet, as it’s awaiting confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Local authorities, including HPD Sgt. J. Wu and Officer K. Stanley, are investigating the accident. According to a statement from the City of Houston, the man was hit by a green Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling north on Wirt Road.
Following the collision, Houston Fire Department paramedics rushed to the scene. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the location. The driver of the Ford pickup, who stopped after the incident occurred, was found to be not impaired after an initial assessment and was subsequently released pending further investigation, as per the City of Houston.
