The City of Philadelphia's Office of Human Resources (OHR) is casting the net widely for those interested in civil service careers with a series of information sessions planned for May. The initiative is not another run-of-the-mill job fair, but rather an explanatory dive into public service roles and the employment journey within the government's ranks.
In a move to demystify the application process, partnered with the Free Library of Philadelphia and other community organizations, the OHR is staging events citywide to showcase the range of options – from policing the streets to pushing papers. According to a post on the City of Philadelphia's official website, the sessions aim to unpack everything from available positions to the ins and outs of getting hired.
These positions are hailed for their job security, benefits, and competitive salaries, offering more than just a paycheck, but a chance to impact the fabric of Philly life directly. "Whether you are a recent graduate, a professional seeking a change, or someone passionate about serving the community, these sessions are a valuable space to get more information and make connections," the city's announcement reads.
Even if someone isn't tech-savvy or finds online forms intimidating, computers and support will be available to help applicants through the process. Those who want to get a head start can also apply in person at upcoming career sessions.
