A pickup truck encountered an unexpected obstacle earlier this morning when it plunged into a sinkhole generated by a substantial water main break in South Park Township.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Riggs Road and Derbyshire Drive, prompting the closure of the thoroughfare between Derbyshire Drive and Piney Bluff Drive as crews from Pennsylvania American Water labored to mend the rupture. According to WPXI, the break affected around 50 customers who were anticipated to regain water service later that same day.
Road closure updates, alongside reports of the incident, were diligently posted by the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department on their social media channels, indicating that Riggs Road was desperately impassable due to the break. The first call the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department responded to involved a vehicle crashing into a hole, as reported by WTAE; fortunately, no injuries were reported.
