Construction has begun on the Placer Commerce Center, a multi-purpose business park in West Placer County. On Tuesday morning, officials from Placer County and Buzz Oates, the development company leading the project, marked the start of construction. The development is expected to contribute between $750 million to $1 billion to the local economy over the next 20 years, according to the County of Placer.
The Placer Commerce Center is a 393-acre business park being developed in unincorporated Lincoln, located at Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard. The Placer County Board of Supervisors has approved a $28 million investment in infrastructure for the project. It is expected to attract employers in sectors such as research and development, distribution, and light industrial work. The development could create 3,500 to 5,000 jobs, depending on the businesses that move into the area. "We are excited about the future of the Placer Commerce Center. We envision it becoming a major economic engine for West Placer County, attracting diverse industries, fostering innovation, and providing high-quality jobs for our residents," said Bonnie Gore, Chair of the Board of Supervisors, as reported by the County of Placer.
District 2 Supervisor Shanti Landon stated, "This project represents a significant investment in West Placer County, an investment in our people, and an investment in our future, and will benefit our whole community." The Placer Commerce Center project aims to support local business and create a sustainable community. The developer, Buzz Oates, is a Sacramento-based firm with experience in commercial real estate, managing over 30 million square feet of space valued at $3.5 billion. The firm handles all aspects of property development, including land entitlements and asset management, as mentioned by the County of Placer.
