Firefighters executed a high-altitude rescue in Plainfield Township after a young adult male found himself trapped 70 feet up in a tree. The individual's climb yesterday was initially met with ease, but his descent quickly took a troublesome turn as branches gave way beneath him, leaving him stranded.
Responding to the afternoon distress call, the Plainfield Fire Department utilized the geolocation app What3Words to pinpoint the climber's precise location, roughly 1,800 feet from the nearest main road. According to an MLive report, WhatThreeWords helped identify the exact location of the stranded climber in the township's wooded expanse.
The rescue operation, highlighted in a Plainfield Fire Department Facebook post cited by WOODTV, was augmented by the expertise of the Grand Rapids Fire Department. Together, these teams orchestrated the safe descent of the young man, who fortunately sustained no injuries during the incident.
