Metropolitan Police Department detectives have arrested in the case of a recent Southeast homicide, the department announced. The shooting, which took place in the evening hours of March 13, resulted in the death of 33-year-old Darius Young from Southeast, D.C.
Police were called to an establishment on Benning Road shortly after the shooting transpired. Despite efforts to save his life, Young succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. It was later determined that the actual shooting occurred outside, on the 5000 block of H Street, Southeast. The Metropolitan Police Department's release provided these details about the incident.
Yesterday, the suspect, 37-year-old Cornell Day, also of Southeast, D.C., was caught and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated). Members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force executed the arrest.
