A Portland man was arrested and is facing multiple charges after police investigated videos he posted on social media showing reckless driving. The Portland Police Bureau began the investigation in late March 2025 after receiving tips about the online content. The videos showed the man speeding, making illegal passes, failing to stay in his lane, and other unsafe driving around the Portland area, according to the City of Portland.
On Friday, Oscar Burell, Jr., 33, was arrested by Portland Police in connection with a hit and run on the 3700 block of Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard. Officers identified Burell as part of an ongoing investigation and took him into custody. He was reportedly sideswiped by another driver while in the roadway, but was not injured. Police impounded a 1994 GMC Sierra pickup connected to Burell. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and charged with Reckless Driving in three cases, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, as reported by the City of Portland.
The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division is continuing its investigation into Burell's actions while driving. The bureau is asking the public for any new first-hand evidence, such as dashboard camera footage, that may help the case. Witnesses or anyone with relevant information are asked to email [email protected]. The case is documented under number 25-89041. The Portland Police Bureau notes that social media posts, website links, or secondhand accounts should not be submitted, as stated by the City of Portland.
