
On April 23, 2025, Tyree Deonte Scott was convicted by a Multnomah County jury on charges that stemmed from a violent altercation outside The Lounge, a NE Portland strip club, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office. Scott now faces a mandatory minimum of 70 months in prison after being found guilty of second-degree assault with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and discharging a firearm within the city's limits.
The incident, which dates back to May 23, 2023, involved Scott being cut off from drinking by a bartender due to belligerent behavior, after which he, the victim, and two others left for a second location as things escalated when the victim was driving away, Scott discharged a firearm towards the vehicle from approximately 70 feet away, resulting in the breaking of the driver's side window and injuring the victim's left hand.
The victim, who has not been named, managed his way to Salmon Creek hospital on his own after suffering the gunshot wound. Deputy District Attorney Andrew Wood, who prosecuted the case, emphasized the lasting impact of the incident on the victim, saying, “The defendant imposed senseless gun violence upon the victim in this case. The victim will continue to live with the physical and emotional injuries he has suffered from this incident, but I believe the verdict of the jury will provide him with a sense that justice has been served," the District Attorney's Office reported.
The conviction was the result of collective efforts by several individuals, Portland Police Primary Detective Jennifer Pierce and ECST Detectives Division, MCDA investigators Nathan Tobey and Heather Hughes, and Victim Advocates Nang Dunn, Rocio Peguero, and Suzanne Rapgnani were all credited for their significant contributions in prosecuting the case the DA's Office extended gratitude to these professionals for their diligence and support.
