An incident unfolded on the I-94 freeway in Macomb County, leading to a large oil spill and a multi-car crash. According to Audacy, a 21-year-old driver, from Detroit, entered the eastbound I-94 near 10 Mile Rd. at what Michigan State Police described as "excessive speeds." The driver’s attempts to maneuver through traffic resulted in a collision with a semi truck and another vehicle, causing a complete shutdown of the eastbound freeway for several hours.

An extended closure was necessitated by the vast amounts of oil leaked across the roadway as result of the collision. In this commotion, the young driver and their passenger were injured and subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment, as stated by MSP Second District's social media post. No other individuals were injured in the crash. During the investigation, authorities discovered numerous whippet canisters, open intoxicants, and suspected marijuana inside the suspect's vehicle, further complicating the situation surrounding the incident.

Lt. Mike Shaw of MSP expressed concern about the driver's actions, stating, "Another preventable crashed caused by risky driving behavior." Police are gathering evidence and seeking a search warrant for a blood draw to determine if impairment was a factor in the incident. An investigation is also ongoing to determine whether the same driver was involved in an earlier hit-and-run that day, Audacy reported.
