A drug trafficking arrest unfolded in downtown Boston yesterday afternoon when law enforcement officers from the Drug Control Unit of District A-1 targeted 37-year-old Mark Dioguardi based on an ongoing investigation, as reported by the Boston Police. Dioguardi, a Revere resident, was apprehended for allegedly engaging in drug trafficking activities near the 329 Washington Street area, specifically observed exiting the Downtown Crossing MBTA station.

The arrest came after officers, conducting surveillance, witnessed Dioguardi making a phone call and heading to McDonald’s, where he sat with another male. Neither of them appeared to order any food at the establishment, revealing a potential layer of pretense to their public presence, according to details released by the Boston Police. The officers observed money being counted, followed by a hand-to-hand exchange at the Aquarium MBTA station after another phone call by Dioguardi and the retrieval of an item from his backpack.

After separating from the exchange, Dioguardi was promptly detained within the train station, and upon a search, law enforcement found a significant quantity of the opioid Fentanyl - two plastic bags in his pants and twelve individually wrapped plastic bags in his backpack, totaling roughly 15 grams. Along with the narcotics, officers also seized $344 in cash. The suspect now faces charges including trafficking and distribution of a Class A substance as he awaits arraignment in the Boston Municipal Court.
