As Rockwall drivers gear up for another week of commuting, they will need to brace for a series of roadwork and traffic shifts that are set to impact I-30 and Goliad/205. According to the Rockwall County website, beginning today, the eastbound lanes on I-30 between Dalrock Road and Horizon Road will have the right lane closed from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with the closure planned to persist through the end of the week.
Further changes are scheduled for next Sunday, April 27, starting at 4 pm, when the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will reroute Eastbound Frontage Road traffic onto temporary lanes to make way for construction work. Temporary driveways will be provided for nearby businesses, including Home Depot, Rockwall Veterinary Clinic, and other storefronts such as FedEx and Cotton Patch, to maintain access during the construction period.
Later that same evening, starting at 9 pm, resurfacing work will commence on Goliad/205, stretching from the county line southward. TxDOT has outlined a plan that includes single lane closures controlled by flaggers. As with the I-30 disruptions, measures will be taken to ensure that emergency response teams can navigate the roadworks with minimal impact. The county's notice indicates that the construction will begin at the county line and move south to improve the long-term condition of the roadway.
