In a late-night incident that underscores the ongoing issue of underage drinking and driving, a 20-year-old was arrested for DUI in Rohnert Park. The City of Rohnert Park Police & Fire reported that last Friday, a traffic stop was initiated for speeding, and failure to adhere to a stop sign led to the apprehension of an inebriated underage driver.
According to the official social media post by the City of Rohnert Park Police & Fire Department, officers conducting the stop discovered open alcohol containers in the vehicle. The underage driver displayed obvious signs of impairment and did not perform well on subsequent field sobriety tests. The situation escalated when a breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.21%, significantly higher than the 0.08% legal limit for adult drivers in California.
Following the traffic stop, law enforcement took the necessary steps to ensure safety on the roads. The city's police outlined in the statement that the 20-year-old was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the DUI, along with related charges.
