A tragic single-vehicle collision on I-275 in Romulus claimed the life of a Wayne County woman yesterday, with Michigan State Police responding to reports of the crash at approximately 7:10 p.m.
According to FOX 2 Detroit, the 25-year-old driver of a Jeep Cherokee was pronounced dead at the scene after her vehicle veered across all lanes of southbound I-275 and collided with a bridge abutment, in the vicinity of W. Huron River Drive, close to the Detroit Metro Airport; state troopers discovered the extensively damaged Jeep in the center median, a preliminary investigation posits that she crossed all lanes and drove into the center median before she hit the abutment which led to her being ejected from the vehicle.
Details provided by CBS News Detroit further indicate that the driver, a resident of Wayne, was the sole occupant, and she was ejected upon impact with the abutment—the abrupt force her corporeal frame could not contest. There were no other vehicles involved in the devastating incident.
