Early yesterday morning, the streets of the quiet residential neighborhood on Aborn Street in Salem were disrupted by the actions of law enforcement. The Everett Police Special Criminal Investigations Unit (EPD SCIU), paired with the Salem Police Department, completed a coordinated strike on drug trafficking within the greater Boston area. Victor MERCEDES, a Salem resident, was arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine after over 200 grams were discovered, according to an announcement by the Everett Police Department's social media post.
Following the court-authorized search warrants from the Salem District Court, espresso-hued dawn bore witness to the culmination of an extensive investigation into MERCEDES's alleged activities. Alongside the drugs, the police claim to also have seized $1000 in cash and equipment potentially used for drug distribution. This significant bust underscores the ongoing battle authorities wage against the narcotics flowing through Boston's veins.
In a turn of collaboration, the Drug Enforcement Administration's Boston Task Force 2 provided support in pinning down the exact location and planning the execution of the arrest and seizure. Empowered by this partnership, local law enforcement emphasized the significance of such joint efforts in combating drug-related crimes.
"This is another example of excellent police work by the drug unit, locating where this dealer was living, putting together a plan with Salem PD and then executing that plan resulting in an arrest and seizure of drugs," Everett Police Chief Strong remarked on the operation, according to Everett Police Department.
