
21-year-old Shykiem Daekwon Verdell has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the February shooting that took the life of teen Emmanuel Houston Jr. WCNC reports that police found Houston fatally wounded at a residence on Tilman Streetearlier this year after responding to reports of a shooting.
In response to the tragic incident, life-saving efforts were made but Houston later died from his injuries. Verdell was arrested by the Lexington Police Department and is now facing serious charges. He is currently held without bond in the Davidson County Detention Center, according to Queen City News. Authorities gathered enough evidence to charge Verdell.
As per the WBTV report, the Salisbury Police Department enlisted the aid of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to further their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the young Houston’s death. Verdell's arrest took place on Thursday, with the investigation culminating in his detainment for the alleged crime.
